A Lowland Amble

Description:
Join the Countryside team on a leisurely walk around Kit Hill to find out why heathland is precious and why it needs to be managed by cutting, burning and grazing. The walk will be about 2 miles, over rough uneven ground.
Cost:
£2 adults, £1.50 concessions, £6 family.
Meet:
at Kit Hill Adit car park [2nd on left] (SX 379 714). Access is from the A390, Liskeard to Tavistock road, with Kit Hill signposted to the north just after Callington.
Bring:
suitable sensible footwear and clothing.

Botanical Walk

Come and explore the rare and beautiful flora of this wonderful heath and bog.

Meet:
at Rosenannon village (SW 956 661). Park in the village and we will walk to the Downs (SW 957 669). Access to Rosenannon is from the A39, St Columb to Wadebridge road. At the junction with the B3274 turn right towards Tregonetha. When the road turns sharply right to Tregonetha, go straight on towards St Wenn on an unclassified road. Take the next left and travel about a mile down to Rosenannon village.
Bring:
walking boots, waterproofs, sun cream and water.

Flower Photography

Description:
We will photograph heathland flowers in the morning and possibly dragonflies after lunch. There will be the opportunity to enter a photographic competition. Entries can be digital, 7” x 5” print or transparency and must be received by the end of September for judging in early October. Prizes include the latest book by the leader: “Wild about Cornwall”. The winning photo will be displayed at Fifteen Cornwall Restaurant throughout October.

at the National Nature Reserve car park at Goonhilly Downs (SW 729 211). Access is from the B3293, Helston to Coverack road, the car park is on the right just after the Earth Station visitor centre.
Bring:
packed lunch, camera, boots and wet weather gear.

Come see how our Moorland Mutton benefits from work we have carried out around our organic moorland farm. Meet the sheep and enjoy the heathland habitat.

at the farm (SX 107 750). Travelling east on the A30, at the crossroads near Temple take the left turn signposted St Breward, north onto the open moor. Drive down this little road across the moor for about 2 miles ignoring any turns to the left or right; the South Penquite farm lane will come up on your right ~ easy!
Bring:
outdoor shoes and waterproofs and bring binoculars, if you have them.

Heath & Country Fair
