Description:
A walk exploring the archaeology and history of one of Cornwall’s most intriguing areas of coastal rough ground looking at the issues around preserving this unique part of our environment. We will look at a variety of archaeological and historic features including, a possible Iron Age cliff castle, an early medieval religious cult site, Bronze Age barrows and one of Cornwall’s best-preserved mining landscapes. We will also discuss how we find out about past environments, landscapes and people.

Meet:
at the Carn Gowla picnic area south of St Agnes Head (SW 700 512). Access is from Beacon Drive on the north side of St Agnes Beacon. Wear stout footwear and bring waterproofs. The walking is over very rough ground, including some steep slopes, and the route will cover approximately 4 miles.
