Description:
Enjoy this lovely area of lowland heath. If it’s fine weather we will search for day-flying moths, butterflies and caterpillars, if not we will look for leaf-miners, fungi and lichens. Our expert leader will point out some of the rich biodiversity found in this type of habitat and answer all your questions.

at the entrance to Breney Common (SX 054 610).
Access is from the A30/A391 (Innis Downs) roundabout south of Bodmin. Turn north to Lanivet and take the first right under the A30 bridge then first left. Turn right at Reperry Cross and take the left fork to Trebell Green. Go straight on at Trebell Green towards Gurtla and Lowertown. The entrance is on the left after the Methodist church, opposite The Barn.

hand lenses and identification books if you have them.

Marvellous Moths

Description:
See what we caught in our moth trap last night. There will be many resident and maybe a few migrant moths or even one of the giant hawk moths. Our moth expert will be on hand to explain how the trap works and identify the insects found. Bring a picnic and then join us on our field walk this afternoon on Breney Common.

at the triangle formed by the roads in Tredinnickpits (SX 075 622).
Access is from the A30/A391 (Innis Downs) roundabout south of Bodmin. Take the Lanivet road north, then the first right which takes you under the A30. Take the first left after the bridge. In just over 1 mile turn right to Fenton Pitts and after 1.5 miles turn right again for Tredinnickpits.
Bring:
suitable clothing and stout footwear.
