The project will aim to achieve the following outputs:
- A generic lowland heathland sustainable development demonstration model and toolkit that will guide future management of heathlands,

- Present site-based good practice demonstration examples of heathland management on a range of sites across the NWE region,
- Examine the links between the landscape and sustainable economic interaction, primarily through links to agriculture, other niche markets and tourism,
- Promote heathlands through a program of education and interpretation projects aimed at improving knowledge and appreciation of heathlands as a valuable habitat with a historical context,
- Provide detailed archaeological information and future management advice for heathland landscapes through the delivery of a detailed program of surveys and desk based research,
- Develop and maintain a trans-national approach to the solving of problems and challenges that face the NWE heathland landscape.
